ORG XMIT: Photograph from the PARK CITIES BANK AND TRUST COMPANY, DALLAS, TEXAS HERITAGE SERIES / A traffic jam is a traffic jam is a traffic jam - whatever the day or year - as this picture taken at 3:30 in the afternoon in January, 1941, will attest. This was when Preson Road south of Lovers Lane was wider than it was north of Lovers Lane. The location shown here is just north of Lovers Lane looking south on Preston Road - also known as Highway 289. The photographer - armed with a strong telephoto lens - must have been standing on a ladder or other perch midway between Stanford and Purdue to captaure the vivid foreground and view of the downtown skyline in the background.
